Well, Trump did very well on his last speech and I was starting to give him the benefit of the doubt. But he obviously listened to his handlers who told him to calm down, stop calling people names, stop the hate. Apparently his daughter was most effective in urging him to tone it down.
It's when he's on his own, as in Florida in the early morning hours that he gets himself into trouble. If they could take away his twitter account, he would do better and not embarrass himself (and the country.)
But I don't think he will ever give up twitter. He hates being criticized so he uses twitter to fight back.
Therefore, it's likely that the good Republicans are seeing that there's little hope for this guy. They know they have a good replacement in Pence so they might go for it. Wait a few months until Trump has screwed up a few more times and they will have enough bipartisan support to go for it. Get him out one way or another. They are smart--they may not impeach him but maybe they could persuade him to step aside and let Pence take over.
The rest of us may not agree with Pence but I don't think it would be the ruination of the country if we ended up with him for president. This is sounding a lot like the Nixon/Agnew mess. We turned out okay.

Pence is a good man, but Republicans are much more loyal towards Trump than Pence. Trump has united Republicans and given them more power than they have had in generations. He has brought a completely different vision and level of energy. Liberal news conspiracies are nothing but a sideshow.
Republicans will not ask Trump to step down. That is just dreaming.

The people have a right to review and appraise the performance of their elected officials.
I doubt anything will happen in the next few years to force out Mr Trump from office, but if it were to happen that could only be because of some serious malfeasance.
In any case, Mr Pence would replace him and everything would go on. Like his political positions or not, Mr Pence is not generally involved in the behind the scenes activity that is under scrutiny.
The country is not coming apart.
the last time I checked the history books, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution; and the Montana Constitution, this is NOT a "democracy", this is a Constitutional Representative Republic.
The founders of our country hated and feared democracy.

CA has petitions circulating calling for the State Assembly to call on Congress to allow for secession.
I have read that Texas is doing the same thing.
