Okay, thanks. I didn't know that. Is a visa required if you stay more than 90 days?...and are they consecutive days or total days?

NOT TRUE.

Canadian citizens DO NOT need a visa to VISIT the USA,.

THEY DO need a visa to WORK or go to SCHOOL ....in the USA.

In this case the woman and two friends were going to a spa in Vermont ,for the day.

The CBP officer was WRONG when he said that she needs a Visa . She does not.

The US Consulate in Montreal confirmed that fact, yesterday.

For those that don't get it...Here is a link to the US Department of State's web sight about what Canadians NEED to enter the US.

READ the first paragraph, which clearly states " Canadians do not need a visa to enter the US unless they intend to live and work here, or attend school here ".

link. https://ca.usembassy.gov/visas/

There it is folks. Direct from your own Government.

I have no problem with tighter restrictions on who enters this country. Cry me a river if she's inconvenienced.

In the Case of Mexico we are required a visa to step into USA, and that visa can last ofr up to 10 Years but you can stay periods no longer to six months, before you go out the country.

retrofit.

This is the law, and it applies to BOTH American and Canadians, equally.

Citizens of EITHER country , may VISIT the other country for a total of 183 DAYS in a 12 month period of time, then they MUSYT leave the country and GO home. They must stay OUT of the country for 183 days at least, before they can re-enter. NO VISA is required to do this.

That is the international agreement, between the USA and Canada, and it has been that way for at least 40 years.

Don't believe me ? Check this Canadian Government website.

link. How long can I stay in Canada as a visitor?

This is the law in both countries .
