It's not even a subject we need to debate because there are many statistics on it. The USA lost face in most of the world under GWB - BIG TIME. Then, under Obama, the USA gained a lot of respect. It's probably too soon to measure but I suspect Trump will turn out much worse than GWB (which says a LOT) in terms of respect from the rest of the world.
Chances are he will start some wars. In fact, I think he sent over 1,000 boots onto the ground in Syria already....and it's not like he's telling us or the Congress clearly or asking for a declaration.
As far as the larger and smarter countries (China, etc.) they are laughing loud. They really didn't wish us to destroy ourselves but there isn't much they can do about it since we seem to have a percentage of the population that desires such. But every day that goes by - china is doing more and more right while we do more and more wrong. Medical and Science research here will be cut while they invest more.
Asia was rising anyway. Now it's game over. We are a 2nd world country. We will have plenty of manufacturing since China, Japan and other countries will gladly open plants here to take advantage of our low cost labor and the fact that they don't have to provide 1st world benefits.
This is going to happen very quickly. Many companies are multi-national and they have little reason to invest here if this country is not stable and working properly.. When you have a POTUS who is seriously batchit crazy with these Fox News conspiracies....wow.....it's going to take decades to come back from this.
So, anyone who would disenfranchise Europe by allowing any foreigner group in is the "leader of the free world"?
The only question to ask in regard to this is who is making this declaration, and what do they have to gain politically?
These migrant pushes are nothing more than geopolitical and sociopolitical disenfranchisement. The people facilitating this are are the quintessential definition of "enemy".
Why isn't flooding Africa, Asia, or the ME with immigrants seen as promoting the "free world"?
In other words, who is this enemy who hates White people so deeply?
The article's logic can be easily dismantled, as well. Take its points on the media, for instance, The media was and is so hostile to Trump that journalists felt the need to apologize for it during the election season. When Trump fights back, now its a scandal that he's hostile to the media. Give us a break. The media represents the antithesis of democracy in this age, because they are a political institution for one side's agenda. That they have protection and privilege as "independent media", while in fact being partisan propagandists, hurts democracy. The media supports Merkel's insane agendas, thus Merkel doesn't push back. That's the difference.
One day this will all be ironed out, with an exceedingly hot iron.

Thing is, we have been kissing Europe's mooch ass for so long we stopped asking why we started doing it in the first place.
The rest of the world will respect the United States when we refuse to send our sons to fight their wars and stop spending our money to prop up NATO while European nations spend their NATO money on high speed rail and green energy.
Oh please, Germany is a destroyed country thanks to Merkel. Not since the aftermath of WW2 is Germany in such shambles. She is no leader. She is a refugee welcoming socialist.
This is a GOOD THING people! Let someone else have the throne. We don't need it.
Let Germany send their troops all over the world and make a fool of themselves like we've been doing since the end of WW2. Let some other nation take the frickin lead for once. Why do you folks wanna lead the world so badly? Why is are Americans so invested in the idea that we must "lead the world?" Our Founding Fathers didn't give a damn about being anyone else's leader. They wanted our focus to be on THIS country, and not go looking around the world for "monsters to destroy."

No, Angela Merkel has done more to hasten the decline of the "free European world" than any German leader since Adolf Hitler.
Her actions have set into motion a rolling barrel of gunpowder that will eventually explode in the years to come.
But go on. Keep praising her for her "pragmatism" and her "measured responses" and "thinking things through." Trump has the excuse of not being very bright to begin with. Merkel has no such excuse, AND she doubled-down on the insanity, taking her people with her.
Also, we don't want Frau Fuhrer sending her Nazi troops all over the world. She'll conquer it for the New World Order.
