That is just great. Good for you. Thank you for the bio, Magritte. And also for answering a question asked of two others that was specific to them and not you.
I'm merely saying its not just non-Americans who feel the way they do.
Also, if you didn't want anyone else to respond to your words, you should have pm'ed the two in question.
We're talking about the far-Right idiots posting on here that terrorism is only Islamic and other crap like that, NOT about every single American. I know not all Americans are idiots, there's plenty of very intelligent ones on these forums as well as ones I know elsewhere, but there's also a lot of extremely ignorant ones here on these forums too who won't learn anything that doesn't fit their pre-conceived ideas.
Thank you for clarifying your previous response. I disagree however that political party of choice serves as a reputable or thoughtful marker of ones' intelligence. That seems incredibly short-sighted and well, not smart.
People develop political preference much in part due to their own needs. So electing politicians who represent your needs best is not at all dumb - it's smart. I wouldn't dare condescend to Democrats for their choice, nor would I Republicans. Isn't it enough to just disagree? Do we need to qualify our own decisions by constantly putting down those of others?
Just musing out loud. Neither you nor Dane strike me as mouthbreathing cavemen, but those posts of yours in this thread don't really paint either of you as enlightened smarter-than-average human beings, either.
If the two of you really believe that America as a collective is as dumb as a bag of rocks...
If I believed the right-wingers on this forum were indicative of the average American level of intelligence, then you'd have a point. There are plenty of intelligent & well-informed Americans and I'm blessed to interact with a lot of them.
But when faced with a thread this loaded with willful ignorance, there is not a lot of room for other conclusions - and keep in mind, I have chosen the generous interpretation by not assuming the posters are concocting deliberate misinformation.

Smart people vote to elect people that represent what's best for society as a whole, not just for themselves, because smart people realise that everything is much better when the country isn't crap. With what's going on today, and how visible information is thanks to the internet and 24 hour news etc. anyone with an ounce of intelligence would not be saying such remarks as the Trump supporters on these forums do. I'm talking about far-Right posters, not your average Republican.

With all due respect, your utopian idea of everyone pulling for the community before themselves is *maybe* possible in a country of less than six million people. But we're talking about the US, with close to 350 million people. I don't think it's very fair to expect equality of outcome when you're comparing a strawberry to a watermelon.

Well of course, you haven't got enough smart people... or is that not what you're saying?
