I typically vote Democrat down ticket, but I didn't vote for Hillary and voted for Gary Johnson instead. I couldn't stomach voting for either of these candidates in this election.

Put me in the Gary, what is Aleppo, Johnson group too. I was hoping with enough votes that third parties would qualify for fed funds in the next election.

It is more sad than funny. What it shows is alot of ignorance. I have a different case. Because I'm Black, there are people who will automatically assume I voted for Hilary. During the campaign a few people took it upon themselves to persuade me to vote Republican. Everything short of begging me.

I voted in the Democratic primary. My vote went to Bernie Sanders. Sanders lost. I vowed that if both Trump and Clinton both won the primary, I would vote 3rd party. I did just that.

If the only dumb thing was the Aleppo gaffe, it could be much worse.

I was hoping there would be enough 3rd party votes. However, it didn't work that way.

I was introduced to the libertarian movement at a very early stage (1968 -- I was eighteen at the time); back then, the party itself was more into "theoretical" candidates like Roger McBride and John Hospers. Democrats can't seem to wean themselves away from more socialism and bigger government, I almost always give the Republican the benefit of the doubt -- unless he's a ranting religious or racial extremist like Jesse Helms or David Duke. (Note that all of the people I cited are trawling for "low-information voters").

The people with whom I share much of my life here in upstate Pennsylvania are not very political (though they do share deep, but not-too-strident religious beliefs). And this election scared them enough to register to vote (for Trump).

So on Election Day, I decided to vote for Johnson -- mostly because I felt that keeping the Libertarian Party on the ballot was paramount; (you're dropped if you don't get a significant percentage of the total vote). But the large turnout in my precinct (I waited in line for nearly an hour) was pretty strong evidence that a lot of people had their doubts about the Clintons.

The pivotal issue for myself is the Supreme Court -- I can live with Ginsburg and Breyer because while I don't agree with them, they've shown that they think deep enough to respect common sense. Sotomayor and Kagan, an the other hand, are little more than rubber stamps. And our Chief Justice seems most concerned with getting his name in the history books as the ultimate "swinger"?

We can "hold the fort" until the next real statesman (or woman) appears on the scene.
