I saw Dave Brat this morning on TV. Guy looks like he needs a double dose of xanax.

I don't know why the liberals are so happy about not repealing and replacing Obama's disaster of a healthcare plan. Nobody could afford it, and those that did paid through the nose for horrible coverage. Deductibles were so high that nobody could even use the insurance unless it was a catastrophic situation.

Many states are down to one provider. Insurance companies are losing billions of dollars. Tell me what's so great about this. Is it because Obama has his name on it? The whole thing is about to implode unless it gets funding, and then nobody will be covered.

Somebody has to come up with something better than what there is now. The political posturing and mud slinging isn't getting it done. The problem is everybody wants something different and nobody can agree on anything.

Liberals didn't support the ACA because we love insurance companies. We supported it because we could see that it was the best we were going to get politically. We'd ditch it in a nanosecond for what Trump promised - cheaper, better, that covered everyone, and that the government would pay for.

However, we won't get that either. Medicare-for-all would be OK. As would a system like the Swiss system, or several other systems around the world where government pays health insurance premiums for folks that can't afford it and limits the companies' profit-taking on basic care.

There will be no vote today. So much for Lil' Donnie getting even ONE legislative win in his first 100 days.

SAD!***

***For Lil' Donnie. Good for those of us who depend on the ACA.

I know I'm shocked.

But given the situation with the possible government shutdown at midnight, they probably had bigger fish to fry.

Yep. Republicans need Democratic support to pass the deal to keep the government open for the next week. They weren't going to get it if they tried to push this through.

Quote:
"House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told a meeting of Democratic whips on Thursday that she had called Ryan and told him there were two conditions for Democratic support of the short-term funding bill, according to aides in the room. Democrats would only sign off on the emergency spending measure to allow lawmakers time to pass the longer-term spending deal, and they would not back the measure if doing so would allow Ryan time to set up a vote on a GOP rewrite of the Affordable Care Act."
