exactly: overtime can stop at anytime: it is not something that is ever guaranteed.

Wishful thinking, cause too bad there's no requirement to mandate the employer to let you take your comp time (or somehow tracked/logged). There's also no requirement for it to be paid out in the event of your job being terminated either voluntarily or involuntarily.

It's essentially getting rid of the OT pay period. You're falling for the shiny golden sprinkles that makes poop look good. Look deeper.

no one is suggesting that, or let's hope not. The situation is simple: don't depend on money that could dry up at anytime. Heck, who knows when a company might decide to put everyone on salary, that would stop overtime pay immediately. It doesn't take a huge brain to understand that.

Under the new law, employers would be able to compensate hourly employees with paid time off, instead of time-and-a half pay. An employer would be able to compensate an employee who worked five extra hours by having him take two-hour lunch breaks the following week.
Even so, all the blue-collar hourly workers that voted for Trump and always vote Republican will STILL continue their blind loyalty to a party that does not represent them in any way whatsoever. It's a never ending source of amazement, it's hard to comprehend, but that's reality. The Republican base is always ready to vote for a party that brings nothing to them. I guess it "feels good" and that's all that counts, it is hard to find any other rationalization for this.

Their rationalization: see liberals cry.

I know these facts won't matter but.

Quote:
An employee who has accrued compensatory time off authorized to be provided under paragraph (1) shall, upon the voluntary or involuntary termination of employment, be paid for the unused compensatory time in accordance with paragraph (6).
Quote:
Not later than January 31 of each calendar year, the employee’s employer shall provide monetary compensation for any unused compensatory time off accrued

This is not true at all. An employer could offer 7 1/2 hours time off for 5 hours overtime worked. Not two two hour lunch breaks. The employee could also choose the pay.

More 'news' for the unenlightened wage slaves. If you have to work overtime to make a living and enjoy your life you are doing something wrong. Nobody should be forced to work 'overtime', that would be a form of slavery.

The economy needs to transition to mostly production based rather than hourly. Hourly wages are for high school and college kids.

A basic example is a paper route. You deliver the papers properly and you get paid for doing so regardless of how long it takes.

In a production based economy people will have much more free time as well as more options.
