Actually I'm being generous. Do you think people are eating steak and lobster at these places? lol. Food pantries survive on donations and what they have on hand. They are often low or out of of food until they get enough money to buy more, so you will be lucky if you can score a few cans of food when you get there. And there is a limit for each person, ie: three cans of food at a time for each person.
Most conservatives I know were born with silver spoons in their mouths. If you've never had to work with immigrants or urban poor, you would never know how hard these people work. Admittidly I'm generalizing about conservatives here, but I know way too people they have every privilege in life that complain about "lazy minorities."

I consider myself more conservative, but that silver spoon was nowhere near in my mouth, more like several states away. There are basic economic principals that define a conservative and you clearly don't understand those.
The GOP isn't keeping poor people poor. The Democrats keep poor people poor so they will continue to vote for them. The left is cruel to the poor. And Salon is a rag.
Every time I hear this type of comment it smacks of rationalized envy. The GOP has never cared about poor people and is happy to kick them to the curb at every opportunity. It's no wonder that they tend to support Democrats.
