Intellectual is not the word that comes to mind when someone mentions Warren's name.

It is for most folks. Seriously, stop acting like a partisan hack, both sides DO have intellectuals. The left has some, as does the right. Insulting them because their politics disagree with you just makes you look silly no matter the side.

I don't think many on thread understand what an intellectual is.

Really? If by "intellectuals" you mean ivory tower thinkers detached from reality, then knock yourself out. Otherwise, I kind of think of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren as fools. They certainly don't understand economics or business.

Oh, and I'm neither Republican nor conservative.

I've seen Trey Gowdy chew up Warren and spit out the bones...and head dress feathers.

I seperate intellectuals from really smart people. Intellectuals write books full of footnotes. My favorite intellectual is Thomas Sowell, the anti-intellectuals intellectual. My least favorite is Chomsky. He is an intellectual, however.

It can be argued intellectuals have done us more harm than good.

I suggest sowell's "Intellectuals and Society".

Bernie and Trump are both populists whose appeal is not to intellect.

Adam Smith was an intellectual.

IMO, the last real intellectual in the US Congress was Eugene McCarthy.
