It was a private business.

Then they can refuse to do business with whomever they like. Sorry if you don't it.

A pedicure business can refuse to give you a pedicure for any reason just like a cake baking company can refuse to do business with anyone they don't want to do business with.

The problem is not them, it is people like you.
