Illegal but not unusual for Casinos. Here is a list of other casinos fined since the Taj.
None of those other casinos are owned by a sitting potus being investigated by a House Intel Committee, a Senate Intel Committee and the FBI. None of the other casinos involved in a presidential campaign with russian involvement.
Trump Taj Mahal, a casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, admitted to several willful BSA violations, including violations of AML program requirements, reporting obligations, and recordkeeping requirements. Trump Taj Mahal has a long history of prior, repeated BSA violations cited by examiners dating back to 2003. Additionally, in 1998, FinCEN assessed a $477,700 civil money penalty against Trump Taj Mahal for currency transaction reporting violations.
How did this not get mentioned at all? I checked to make sure Trump owned it, and not just branded, and yup. He owned it.

It's my personal belief that very little about Trump was adequately discussed during the election. Unfortunately, no one took him seriously enough to properly vet him until it was too late.
It wouldn't have mattered. Trump's most ardent supporters have shown repeatedly that they don't care what he might have done, they just wanted to be on the winning side.

And those that display this point of view voted for Obama, TWICE and Hillary this past election.
All of a sudden they are concerned about "vetting".
Guys, Trump does not own everything that has his name on it. No problem with you bashing Trump but at least get the facts straight so you don't continuously show up as factually challenged.
Trump has done some deals that has raised eye brows, no doubt, and I get that you don't like him, but I don't think anybody on this thread runs in those high deal circles to where we can post that he is a corrupt criminal. Did he push the mega deal envelope? Absolutely.
Trump hasn't owned that casino or Trump Entertainment Resorts for many years, so this thread has yet another misleading title. The Trumps sued to have their name removed from the casino in 2014 because Trump Entertainment Resorts had allowed it to fall into disrepair and harmed the Trump personal brand. The owner vowed to fix it so they struck a deal. Trump gets a small royalty for the use of his name from many entities.
For example: on another Forbes article I read some time ago when Trump announced his candidacy, the Trump name is on 17 properties in New York, but he only owns or owned at the time of the article 5 of them.
When a business violates some law, depending on the law they violate, they have a chance to get it fixed. They apparently did that early on. Trump built casinos in Atlantic City in its glory days. Those days are gone for Atlantic City and have been gone, and apparently Trump knew when to fold 'em and got out.
The "money laundering" findings on a casino that Trump had now owned for many years apparently did not rise to the criminal level or the owners would be in jail or at least criminally investigated/charged.
The second article shows Atlantic City's down turn since 2008.
