In this case it is not a 10 year appointment, because whoever takes the job, will be thrown under the bus as soon as the WH needs someone to blame, which is probably very soon.

Mueller is investigating the Russia things, so I don't think a new FBI Director will be thrown under the bus.

There is a good chance that this was and is already occurring according to Trump's insinuations.

How many attacks happened underneath Comey? He was scared to death to prosicute Hillary.

If somebody takes that FBI job their shamed for life because they would deport the muslims who are on the watch list and Trump can't guarantee the fbi safety once Trump is gone. We are at war.

Not sure she can throttle it down enough to not steal a little bit of the spotlight away from her boss. These days, that's all that matters for an administration gig.

totally agree. I am guessing his decision was based on something we know little or nothing about and probably never would. To the OP, this has nothing to do with not giving the job away. There are plenty out there that would love to hold the position.

Actually, the FBI has both law enforcement and counter-intelligence (ie: FBI National Security Division) duties.

My preferred picks are either Ray Kelly or Acting Director Andrew McCabe.

Maybe so, but what is it, 5 people now who have taken themselves out of the running? I don't see anyone chomping at the bit.

Hard to imagine anyone with self respect doing this. Loyalty is to the constitution, not trump.
