Merkel doesn't need or want your respect. The only respect she needs is the respect of the German people, which she has in obvious abundance. Your respect isn't worth her bothering with.

Again, don't like Merkel or any other German leader, petition your representatives to get US Troops out of Germany where they have no business being anyway.

European leaders aren't elected to make Americans happy.

It would have been far better if the attackers were identified when live, before the attacks. Identification of dead people after a suicide attack has little real value. Goes with candlelight vigils.

Default Merkel's real worry

Recently, the U.S. decided it would honor a small deal with Australia to take a limited number of refugees. See US 'will honour' refugee deal with Australia that Trump called 'dumb'. I suspect that Merkel had extracted a similar though much larger commitment from Obama with regard to the 1,000,000 refugees she agreed on behalf of Germany to accept. With such a deal and the Paris Climate Accords more or less out the window Merkel and other European leaders have a problem; the U.S. won't rescue them from their bighearted generosity.

I admit this is speculation but I'd be willing to bet the price of a dinner at another poster's favorite New York City or Westchester restaurant I'm right.

And laughing at you, see because you now buy into what Hillary and Obama claimed, so you are what, a Democrat now because trump says Russia is our new BFF, sorry I know you would take that as an insult, but your guy and you are agreeing with those you said were wrong. Guess what, You are all Wrong, oh and the Republicans in Congress agree with Me.

That's because he's ignorant - of history, of why the allies are valued, of the value of our bases in Europe, etc., etc., etc. Can't expect much from a mental lightweight.

Well, no one studies history anymore, so there is that. Trump loves the uneducated - and as long as we have them, Trump can spew his nonsense and we'll see the ignorance sprouting all over.

Is that a fact? How about German business based in the US, and the 750,000 JOBS they provide not only in its US facilities, but all the suppliers and ancillary businesses which spring up because of this, as well.

Here's a list of the top 50 German employers in the US (there are more):
  1. Daimler Group, Atlanta, GA MBUSA
  2. Volkswagen Group of America , Herndon, VA
  3. T-Mobile USA, Bellevue, WA
  4. BMW Group, Woodcliff Lake, NJ
  5. BASF Corp., Florham Park, New Jersey
Details on employees, etc. begin on pages 16-17, here:

Indeed, all the while employing 750,000 (that's a low number) US workers in the US. They are really fleecing us, for sure.

Didn't this start with Trump snubbing Merkel and refusing to shake hands with her?

Started when he was running for office, his big mouth overran his small brain as usual. Whenever her own opponents in Germany side with her you know that you should probably pay attention to the actual problem that is damaging ties to all our allies, this is going to come back to haunt us for a long time to come.
