But not yet. Not even remotely. Now is the time to discuss it, and under what circumstances it would be appropriate, but with less then 20% unemployment, its not the time for it.
Given the fact that in the future millions of people will be rendered unemployed due to automation and technology it may not be such a fanciful proposition. People with no jobs and no future tend to get very angry.

70% of our GDP is from domestic spending. Once we hit a certain level of unemployment, its basic income or complete collapse. This absolutely should be discussed, and looked at for implementation if expectations of future massive unemployment and increased output come about.
