Elon Musk to Trump: Ditch Paris deal and I'll quit as your adviser - May. 31, 2017

Aside from Tesla and SpaceX, plenty of other companies are urging Trump to be a part of the deal along with the rest of the world.

Maybe Elon Musk could run in 2020?

Tesla Motors Inc., SolarCity Corp. and Space Exploration Technologies Corp., known as SpaceX, together have benefited from an estimated $4.9 billion in government support, according to data compiled by The Times. The figure underscores a common theme running through his emerging empire: a public-private financing model underpinning long-shot start-ups.

No one is surprise by Tesla, SpaceX, and other companies who support the Paris treaty. Those companies stand to gain from the treaty. Can those companies compete without a treaty against non green energy or alternatives to green energy? Elon cares more about the best interest of the corporations he represents than about global warming. Had the companies he represents benefited from not signing the treaty, he would be urging Trump to not sign the treat. This is about the bottom line with global warming as the vehicle to reaching their corporate goals.

Tesla and SolarCity: Corporate Welfare Queens

Elon Musk, who has become one of the more successful entrepreneurs chasing government dollars. crony capitalism. Only rich people can afford Teslas. The Models S and X both retail starting around $70 thousand, well out of reach for most taxpayers.

The crony capitalism is not just limited to expensive toys. Another corner of Musk's empire, SpaceX, benefits from it.

...so, safe to say you wouldn't vote for him in 2020?

Nice to see you all are not cynical ! A lot of companies are looking toward the future and realize that they need to step up and do things that protect our environment and promote good business practices so we do not damage our earth more than we already have.

I worked for a company that was "green", and they spent a lot of money to switch over to cleaner sources of energy and ways to lessen our impact on the planet. They didn't have to do any of it, they WANTED to do it, and so did their shareholders.

Not everything that is done in this world has ulterior motives, there still are good people among us. I would hate to go through life thinking everything is a conspiracy or a plot.

Sadly, i don't think that's going to sway Trump. Even his daughter can't seem to change his mind about climate change and is having a difficult time getting him to stay with the agreement, Elon Musk isn't going to either....

The fact that we actually have to persuade this bozo to do the right thing is just plain sad....

True.

But doesn't this kind of counter the notion that green energy would be just fine without the treaty?
