“When the president refuses to reveal which benefits he is receiving — much less obtain congressional consent before accepting them — he robs these members of their ability to perform their constitutional role,”

I think the GOP controlled Congress might just be able to issue an official approval that Trump can receive an unlimited amount of funds from all foreign governments without any further approval required.

That is perhaps the whole purpose of this lawsuit.

What's truly sad is the continual defense of malfeasance by the cult of Trump.

Going forward, all elected officials will do the same.

Just as they looked aside when the terms of Mr. Trump’s D.C. Hotel Lease were changed (ignored) to suit his & his family's best interest.

There's a clause in the lease which explicitly forbids any elected official of the federal government from receiving any benefit from the property.

These are precedent-setting abuse of power issues.

Congress would hesitate to approve it, because the optics would be deadly to them come election time.

A compromise where trump complies, or resigns would be good I think.

But this needs to never happen again. (not the trump elected thing, but how he handled mixing business into his presidency).

Thumbs up Nearly 200 lawmakers to sue Trump citing business conflicts

USA TODAY
The unprecedented legal action will accuse Trump of violating the Emoluments Clause of the U.S. Constitution, which prohibits federal officials from accepting gifts or titles from foreign governments without congressional approval, according to lawmakers leading the effort.

The lawsuit will have the greatest number of congressional plaintiffs of any lawsuit against the president in the nation’s history, according to Michigan Rep. John Conyers, the House Judiciary Committee’s top-ranking Democrat.

Of course, it's doubtful if America ever had a more CORRUPT POS in the White House!

From the 1st piece:

Quote:
...That means Trump is now facing a triple threat in court, with plaintiffs coming at him from 1) the private sector, 2) the state level and 3) Congress. Each group must try to convince a court that it has the legal standing to challenge a president. ...
The other & largest group impacted is the American people.

If members of Congess are unwilling to fulfill their fiduciary duties & responsibilities, as per Constitutional requirements, they too can be impeached.
