University of Virginia student Otto Warmbier has been medically evacuated from North Korea in a coma after being detained for 17 months,

He was charged with “hostile acts against the state,” [stealing a poster] and after an hour-long trial in March 2016, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labor.

He had not been seen in public since. Swedish diplomats, who represent U.S. interests in North Korea because the United States has no diplomatic relations with the country, were denied access to him.

The Warmbiers were told that he contracted botulism soon after his trial and was given a sleeping pill, from which he never woke up.

There is no way of knowing yet whether the North Korean version of events is true,

If Obama was still President, the poor student would still be locked up.

Trump still winning.

Uh, he committed a crime in another country. He learned what respect of other peoples culture is the hard way. You have to be pretty dumb to even visit NK as a tourist, nevermind try to steal or vandalize anything. Can't help but feel bad for him even so. Why should Obama have cut a deal when he very clearly violated their laws? Moderator cut: race baiting

Geez, going to North Korea ranks right up there with diving into murky water from a tall bridge.

You went from heading down the rails pretty good, and then boom, right off the bridge into a ravine.

So what you're saying is that you completely support Americans committing crimes abroad with no repercussions...

Are Americans exempt from following the laws of other countries?
