Commissioning is the official ceremony that actually places the new warship into active duty.

The U.S.S. Gerald R Ford is the first (lead) ship in a new class (generation) of nuclear powered aircraft carrier. The first all new design placed in service since 1976. She is expected to sail with the fleet for at least fifty years. Her last commanding officer has not been born yet.

Say what you will about the current Commander in Chief, the fact remains that, like many other exceptional accomplishments made by the United States of America, this latest warship added to our fleet is another example of what the greatest country in recorded history on Earth can accomplish.

Probably why many on the left would rather denigrate this occasion, than celebrate it.

CN

It will be a far greater accomplishment when we become as capable of keeping the peace as we are at going off to inane wars of choice of no benefit to the country.

Sometimes the topics here are so preposterous that I think they're just bait for liberals.

Commissioning a ship, eh? That's sissy work usually given to women.

Oh yeah, it's hard work
" (although this one thinks he's an Emperor)."

He hasn't signed as many EO's and EM's as Obama did who set the record for signing them.

Did you ever call Obama an "Emperor?

I smell hypocrisy.

Obama was ALSO overturned by the Supreme Court MORE then any other president.

How many times has Trump been overturned by the SC?

Really?

When was the LAST time we had one sink?

Wrong on every point.

Carriers are surrounded by other vessels in the battle fleet with coverage provided by E2C Hawkeyes AWACS data linking with a Ticonderoga AEGIS cruiser using its computer to direct the defence of the entire battle group automatically. Everything from BlockIII SM2 missiles to CIWS and NATO Sea Sparrow missiles. A carrier will not be sunk as easily as you think.

When a hot spot flashes the president asks where is the nearest carrier.

How apt that the ship is the Gerald R. Ford, who lost re-election mostly for pardoning Nixon against the country's wishes.

And, of course, he'll be heading to the NJ golf course immediately afterward. Melania is already there.

Interesting comments in the speech of the Sect. of the Navy about President Ford who served during a constitutional crisis.
We are heading into another constitutional crisis as the status quo, working in concert with Putin, seek to undermine the people who elected the current President. The Honorable Donald John Trump President of the United States of America..

So we are expected to either work 70 hours a week or less than 35 so the government doesn't force the employer to pay for health insurance?

This President is a work horse. I wish he would play more golf and relax a little more but he won't. He is out again today on the weekend MAGA. The aircraft carrier was totally made in America maybe President Trump will mention that in his speech today. What a great way to end the week of Made in America.
