Afghan camouflage decision leaves Congress fuming

All told, the Pentagon has spent $93 million since 2007 to buy 1.3 million uniforms for Afghan soldiers. Simply by using a camouflage pattern owned but not currently used by the U.S. military could have saved taxpayers $71 million, according to Sopko’s report.

The Pentagon will be called to account on Capitol Hill this week for its pricey plan to outfit Afghan soldiers in uniforms with a private-label forest camouflage scheme of dubious value in the desert country.

Last I read, DOD had not passed a single audit and does not anticipate passing the audit this fall with flying colors.

Military waste is always ok, feeding poor children or healthcare for poor people with cancer, bad.

Think of the yachts that could have been purchased if this money had been returned to the US taxpayers in the form of tax cuts for the .01%. Sheldon Adleson could have funded an entire election cycle!!!

Better yet, why can WE have ONE camouflage pattern (or series of patterns) universal to all 5 branches? Currently, the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force all have their own camo patterns.

We need a singular woodland and a singular desert pattern used by all branches.

The article is about this, I assume

All told, the Pentagon has spent $93 million since 2007 to buy 1.3 million uniforms for Afghan soldiers.

Afghan camouflage decision leaves Congress fuming

Yeah, I believe it is not necessary.

Maybe Ivanka will bring out a new line of low-cost camo. Made in China.

Sounds about right.

Yet another another obscene example of the fraud, waste, and abuse of tax payer money wasted on nonsense overseas.

While many Americans struggle to even find food to eat for one night, put a roof over their head, or get proper medical coverage, our government feels a need to continue throwing money at a bottomless pit in the Middle East, an absolute waste of time, money, resources, and LIVES.

Oh, did y'all know about the BILLIONS in our tax payer money that went missing overseas?

Taliban's gonna love their new uniforms when they take over. Will go well with the billions of US military equipment that we taxpayers paid for. This is a losing proposition and has gone nowhere for the last 16 years.

Taliban controls almost the same amount of territory as they did in 2001. We would need to have an occupation army numbering in the hundreds of thousands in place for generations to maintain any semblance of control.
