I wonder which would have been the bigger distraction, the resignation of the president's Committee on the Arts or his response to the Charlottesville violence. He will probably not be able to take another picture with a celebrity again,too bad for the Trump brand.

He knows he is so unpopular that his presence in public is disruptive, even at the Kennedy Center Honors.
He can only show his face on his golf courses and at vetted political rallies.
No ,the honorees were not going to attend the reception so as always trump is making it all about trump.
I wouldnt invite trump to any party worth their name at this point. Nothing good will come of it for anyone. He's a lonely man with his minions of stupids following him with their mouths gaping and knuckles dragging on their sides.....
My guess is that Melania is none too happy about this.

He will only attend events where he is revered and admired. Which means he is pretty much relegated to rah-rah rallies of braindead supporters these days. His circle is growng ever smaller.
