Trump has traveled 41 times to his resort properties in FL, NJ, and VA.
It'd be more tolerable if he was traveling to those coal mines he alleges he'll revive or official state visits but he's funneling taxpayer money into his properties.
It's not just him. It's Ivanka's frequent luxury vacation trips (to the point where SS had to buy skis and equipment), Eric and Lil Donny Jr.'s business trips all over the world, Tiffany and Marla's European vacation. It is absurd.
I really see no justification as to why the taxpayers have to pay for the international private business travel. It is out of control, and it certainly is going to lend no credibility to Trump talking about a budget.
The Trump family should either chip in for these excesses or learn what the word 'sacrifice' means.
Per the article in the OP, more money will be spent to protect Trump during his 1st year in office than was spent during Obama's 8 years in office.

If you're actually interested in understanding why, there could be a few different reasons. The president (any president) travels the world, period, so it could be they tag a vacation on business trips. It could be that you're confusing business trips for vacation. Or that you don't see there's some "carpool" going on with planes. Surely Obama's dog wasn't taking its own chartered plane.
Personally, I have thought Trump is a jackass for 35+ years.
But as a nation, I believe we owe it to ourselves to protect whoever holds the office of POTUS with whatever it takes.
Yeah I definitely agree their protection is important, but this is kind of a unique situation where they should pay into it. I don't begrudge the Trumps business trips - that's their livelihood - but why can't they expense those costs to the business? Considering the guy kept bragging about being a billionaire, it seems pretty crappy that some of the people meant to protect him won't get paid for their work.
I see no reason why America should pay for security for a billionaire presidents' grown, adult children. Since he is 'so rich', he and his family can pay for security for his grown children and their families. And yes, he can spend the weekends in the White House/ DC doing the job he was elected to instead of rushing out of town every weekend.
