The U.S. Secret Service is investigating a Facebook post from Missouri state Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal, D-University City, in which she stated: "I hope Trump is assassinated!"

As outage over the comment spread Thursday, a top leader in Chappelle-Nadal's own party declared that Chappelle-Nadal "should be ashamed of herself."

Chappelle-Nadal's comment, referring to President Donald Trump, has since been removed. But Chappelle-Nadal confirmed to the Post-Dispatch that she had written it in response to another commenter before deleting it.

How long until people become critical thinkers for themselves to recogize when wrong is wrong.

That person should be reprimanded for writing that.

Why politicians think they should post on social media all the time is beyond me. It's one thing to retweet inspirational quotes, it's another thing to write your knee jerk reaction when you are all fired up.

While they certainly have to chase down all potential threats, I don't believe that comment rises to the level that warrants SS involvement. But I also believe that elected officials at all levels should be held to a higher standard of decorum and would applaud someone in Missouri holding her accountable.

to answer my own question - looks like she already blamed trump for what she did.

"Did I mean the statement? No. Am I frustrated? Absolutely. The president is causing damage. He's causing hate."
but wishing for assassinations is not 'causing hate'

Nah, she should be reprimanded and face the full extent of whatever punishment is available.

She's confused. She thought she took an oath to murder the constitution not defend it.

I highly doubt she'll be forced out and she has already refused calls to resign.

her career with the democrats is just getting started.

As political leaders call for her resignation, she says “there’s no way in hell that I’m resigning.”
