We see a lot of fiction here, both from right-wing pundits, and Trump's own spoutings.

But maybe some of you might like to take a break with some actual fiction, a short story. It's "The Children's Story," by the popular James Clavell, written in the 1960s, and meant at the time to be a cautionary tale about the dangers of Communism, I suppose. It's very good, vivid, and rather chilling. It was so well-received that the story in a magazine was later published as a book.

But apropos of our current politics, I was now looking at it in a completely different way. The persuasive elementary school teacher here is doing many of the same things Trump and the Alt-Right is doing - undermining some of the basics of what America has always believed in, such as the reliability of the press, and now the Alt-Right idea that we should tear down anything honoring Washington is uncomfortably similar to this tearing up the flag.

Hope that some of you read it - and find it interesting.

I remember this story...8th grade Civics. Same year I read Animal Farm, 1984 and Fahrenheit 451.

Great teacher--formed some lasting ideals in that class.

If I don't read it, do I get sent to re-education camp?

The press has destroyed their own credibility by colluding with the Dems. Read The Smear by Sharyl Attkisson.

No they haven't.

Trumplings have destroyed their own by swallowing the lie that the media "is the enemy of the people."

34% and sinking.

If the left is the real enemy and has fabricated the threat of the alt right, isn't it kind of extremely stupid to worry about the alt right? The deep state and their goons on the left are the main conspirators, not to say that the GOP isn't also compromised since they seem to be against Trump almost as much as the dems.
