Republican opposition to ACA does themselves and our nation a disservice:
Among the basic concept of financial insurance is the accumulation of funding to sustain constant but often erratic timing and amounts of pay-out for instances of insurable occurrences.
Insurance is beneficial to those that would otherwise be unable or much less able to achieve such accumulations. If they encounter instances of insurable occurrences when their accumulated financial reserves are insufficient, they're forced into financial insolvency,
Medical insurance that does not discriminate upon the condition of the applicant is not financially sustainable unless the “insured pools' are very large and diverse; (i.e. Affordable Care Act's disregard for previous medical conditions is financially unsustainable unless almost everyone participates in the insurance plan).
Eliminating mandatory requirement to be insured is inconsistent with lesser per-capita insurance costs and disregard for applicants previous medical conditions. Opponents of the a national policy for medical insurance seek to increase insurance costs and thus undermine the Affordable Care Act by permitting individuals refrain from joining or remaining in the insured pool until they're sick or more likely to become sick.
The alternative to disregarding previous medical conditions and permitting persons to “opt-in” or “opt-out" of the insured pool is greatly increased insurance costs that leaves many segments of our nation's population inadequately medically insured, reduces the level of our health, and increases bankruptcies due to medical costs.

On the other hand, I said this before, and will say it, again: the way the ACA was put up, any attempts to break it down will mean huge consequences for the opposition. Obamacare, IMHO, is here to stay!
