If you think about it, it's kind of silly how the national anthem gets played at all these sporting events. From kids games, high school, college and pro sports. it seems like its fake patriotism to me. Do other countries do this?
I think its more appropriate for special events like a sports all star game, International games (U.S vs a foreign team) and Olympic games.
It also unifies us as as a community and as fellow Americans. The National Anthem is played at a lot of events in my neck of the woods. I don't think its silly at all. Why is there always someone wanting to take away our traditions and bury our past.
Not standing could be viewed as treasonous to our country. Therefore, according to progressive logic seen here on these boards, we should be completely understanding (perhaps even cheer) should those sitting be punched in the head like a Nazi.

You do realize that the soldiers fought for American freedoms not only ones that you agree with.
Alrighty we hear you loud and clear, you don't care for the National Anthem but taking it away from others who DO appreciate it is not your call. So, sit down, don't sing, do whatever you want during that time but let it be.
