Nothing is wrong with Girls Scouts, but when I was younger and in Girls Scouts, I didn't want to sit around and sew, craft and bake. I wanted to be outdoors and learning outdoor skills.
Maybe Girl Scouts has changed since my days in the troup. Are they doing more wilderness skills and stuff with the girls?
From what I have gathered in the thread it pretty much depends on the troop.
The change that is happening is that boys and girls will be in cub scouts together, and then branch of into separate but parallel groups at the same time boys would be moving on to boy scouts. These groups would both follow a more traditionally "Boy Scout" curriculum, and would earn the traditionally "Boy Scout" accolades, with the highest honor being eagle scout now available for both genders. Not sure why anyone would have a problem with this.

It would seem the girls scout organization is having a problem with it.
Yes it is. Guys learning to be MEN from male role models.
Well there are female scoutmasters in the boy scouts and one article 1/3 of boy scout volunteers are women.
How exactly does boy scouts teach guys to be MEN.

We follow the curriculum provide by the BSA, tweaking it here and there.
I just received word that we will have a meeting to discuss facilitating the changes. While I would prefer it stayed all boys, it ain't the end of the world.
What's wrong with maintaining tradition if it doesn't hurt anyone?
How does excluding a human based on gender not hurt anyone?
