If you think those examples are false I can only suggest that you investigate further. Advocating better education is the point of my post. I think we can all benefit from reading more books, trying different varieties of news sources, and talking to different people. It really helps me to have conversations with black people and ask them what their experiences are. Empathy and education goes a long way.

But that just can’t be; only lefty SJWs want to ban books due to their discomfort level. There must be a cell of proto-socialist operatives lurking in the heart of Biloxi. There’s no other explanation that makes sense.

I’m 59. We read and studied this in 7th grade. And watched the movie. That would have been 1970. It was exactly what we needed to be learning at that age.

There's no great mystery here. Some black parents don't want their kids to read any book with the n-word in it, regardless of the book's message or literary merit.

I'm quite well educated, read plenty of books and interact with many different people.

I recognize BS when I see it.

They banned it because of complaints. WHO complained? That'll tell you what you need to know.

So then it's conservatives who are banning books? Anyway, books shouldn't be banned and the decision should be made by professionals, not parents. Librarians and other educators who know how to make an informed decision should be the ones in charge. If it was just a bunch of parents complaining, their discomfort needs to be heard but the educators are the ones who know how the book is being taught and how the meaning is being explained to the kids. This should be explained to the parents and no books should be banned.
