The news about the Papadopoulos plea and cooperation with the feds is far more troublesome for the Trump campaign with regards to allegations of collusion with the Russians. The Manafort indictment is about activity before his association with the Trump campaign. It in itself does not directly tie the Trump campaign to the Russians or its former puppet Ukraine PM. It however shows Manafort himself was well connected with people that had ties to Putin and the Kremlin.
