My wife and kids shoot the 5.56 with hand loads. 77 grainers that need a 1 in 8 twist to stabilize. They know this is a 150 yard load max. If we could have a can I'd like the black but we can't so I'd rather run something else.
Yeah, the 300 Blackout really shines subsonic, and suppressed. I agree with you. My AR-15 has a 1/7 twist, (Colt M4) so I can shoot the heavier stuff also, but it still is very accurate with 55 grain FMJ. 62 grain is better for plinking though.
People don't buy AR15's for hunting practicality, they buy them to feel like badass weekend warriors.

it is not an assault rifle - but just like I can't get a bazooka, you don't need a AR15 either -- just like I can't have a military out HUMVEE- you do not need a TANK!
What stops you from getting a bazooka? Too poor and your money is better spent elsewhere? Who says you cannot have a military surplus Humvee?
I have made bazooka's out of PVC pipe. Ever seen a potato gun?
