Taken to its natural conclusion - that Ai/Robotics will replace all humans in he workplace - we can make another inescapable conclusion. That the fulfillment of the capitalist dream, ultimate profit and a compliant(non-existent paid workers) workforce, will end capitalism itself.

Capitalism only exists because you have consumers who spend and drive profit. Take out the spending and what do you have?

Though fear not, corporations will never replace their Ceos with robots because they need them right? I mean do you think shareholders would replace a Board of Directors or corporate officers with machines who would never ask for stock options, multi-million dollar raises or be sued for sexual harassment?

Wait a minute...is this a trick question...

I wonder if the CEO understands coders can probably put his job in a program too?

Progression and change is life

Too bad you have people in this country wanting to go back to the good ole days instead of learning new trade skills and educating themselves

Yes, but it is more about living in a world where profits can be generated without human labor. AI is a curse on humanity.

Banks have launched all sorts of online, apps and other services to get people from using tellers and or "live" customer service. You can do nearly all banking over the telephone, online or via other methods including opening accounts and so forth.

So yes, can see how DB would claim to eliminate a major portion of jobs with automation; it is already happening.
My disabled brother used to have a messenger job at a large bank data processing center. He was replaced by a robot - over 20 years ago. It's been happening for quite some time. But it's picking up momentum now, and the pace will continue to increase.

Don't think it's just tellers making not much above minimum wage. A lot of us are at risk.
Someone needs to develop an AI to replace CEO's.

It won't be before long that someone in some country will invent the humanless corporation run by an AI, that pays no wages.

I think at this point there would be a universal basic income. (Maybe along the lines of how all Alaska residents get money from the government).

And yes, boards and CEOs can easily be replaced by AI robots. That's why it's important to amass capital that can be invested now.

Maybe!

I was thinking more that robots are the endgame of fully industrialized technology, and therefore so inevitable (regardless of politics) that only a nuclear war or similar catastrophe could throw us back to an earlier stage of development.

Of course I'm an SF fan and I especially enjoy indulging in EOTWAWKI fantasies.

I agree about UBI. Tell that to conservatives and they go nuts.
