If AI robots replace human workers, should they be taxed the same?

If not, will the income tax have to be replaced with a national sales tax in the near future because not enough money is coming in?

This is a UK article but it applies as well to the US:

Lets just hope the supply and demand theory kicks in. Rich people stay rich by relying on the poor, but if the poor can no longer afford their products because they no longer have jobs, and no job means no taxable income, well, you get the picture.

China and the U.S. are leading in robotics development. It's a matter of losing jobs to chinese or american robots, does it matter who owns the robots? They're inhumane rich bastards no matter where they're from.

Let's just be direct about it and tax the billionaires. It's *inherently dangerous* for individuals to have that kind of wealth and power. We can either be proactive and tax them heavily like we did in the 1950's (a time of economic prosperity and very high taxes on the wealthy)... or we can allow them to buy elections and skew every law and societal norm in their favor.

We already have clear examples of how both scenarios play out. Do we want widespread economic prosperity like we had in the 1950's? Or do we prefer the economic crash of 1929 and the Great Depression resulting form the excesses of the Robber Barons?

Frankly we're lucky that we didn't end up with the American version of the Bolsheviks... and it may well have played out that way had FDR not offered the New Deal. If we continue down our current path, at some point American Bolsheviks will again become a real possibility.
