Except they'll be screwing those of us who have health insurance by raising our premiums.
The CBO also predicts that premiums in the markets would spike 10% without Obamacare’s individual mandate as the exchanges are left with a sicker consumer pool: http://fortune.com/2017/12/20/tax-bi...ate-obamacare/
You can't do that, if you are an employer who is mandated to provide health insurance you can't refer your employees to the individual market. When the ACA first started my husband's employer tried doing just what you suggested and got shot down by the feds.
So then don't provide insurance but give the workers more money to buy insurance from the market.
But again, this shows how poorly thought out ACA was. Almost like they wanted it to fail from the start. Here was a chance to help secure the individual market, yet can't be done. Same with the Cadillac tax.
It guaranteed a sick old and poor individual market.... a recipe for failure.
Health care rates were increasing before the ACA, they will increase more with the removal of the mandate. Millions will lose their health care so what's the GOP plan other than increase rates and kicking people off health care.
Little to nothing was done by either side to address the cost side of the equation.
I was not a fan of the Mandate either. And blame the GOP all you want, but it's a shame that healthy people don't have the conscience or integrity to sign up for health insurance in order to pay for the unhealthy among us. The GOP is a selfish party, but so are our young and healthy people too. But as long as they have their latest smartphones and other gadgets, they they are happy and have no problems sleeping at night.
Many can not afford to sign up. You can ignore this all you wish but NOTHING was done to address the cost side. No, giving up your cell phone is not going to cover your cost of health care.
No, we don't pay for ER care. The person getting the treatment gets a bill. They pay it or they don't. If they don't pay it, the person who owes the bill goes into bankruptcy and the debt is discharged.
Please stop repeating the simplistic liberal lie that everyone pays for the uninsured who use the ER for primary care.
Typically the hospital makes less money as a result, and I don't think it common for the hospital to pursue the patient so far. Of course the hospital can seek higher reimbursements for the next term. Which they would anyway....
We could all save a ton at the ER by deporting all illegals.
How much would you save?
