I did. It is comical that such a statue would even remain up at all. It's ugly. When I was in Nashville I never saw it. Then again, I flew into Nashville from Atlanta, and I never got on I-65.
It's not easy to see it from the road, it's an embarrassment for most folks; they've tried to have it removed without success.
I realize that Forrest was from Memphis, but why did the founder of the KKK have a freaking statue in the first place?
Because he was one of the greatest tactical geniuses in US military history. IIRC, Forrest enlisted and worked his way up to general. He supposedly was a tough old SOB and get shot and injured numerous times.
Also, his views on race moderated significantly as he grew older.
Memphis is now on the list of cities I will not visit or spend my money in. Political correctness and uber sensitive people are enemies of freedom and reason. I was planning to visit the other side of the state to see Graceland and get some good Q but not any more. Trip cancelled.....forever. I don’t spend my money in places where people seem to be hostile toward my ancestors or our nations history.
Yeah! We're cured! Oh wait, next is Washington, Jefferson, (they owned slaves), the racist Constitution, and the racist, imperialist American flag. WWI, and WWII memorials (we had segregation of troops then). Get rid of all NASA, and mission symbols leading up to, and including Apollo (no Black astronauts)..........
What a sad day it will be when racists can`t taunt blacks with statues of slave holders who fought against the U.S. govt. Neither Washington or Jefferson led troops into battle against the United States. See the difference?

That's great news! Good riddance to bad rubbish littering our parks!
What about getting rid of this eyesore? It's not only ugly & tacky, it makes Nathan Bedford Forrest look stupidly evil in a cartoonish way & deranged. On second thought, it's likely an accurate reflection.
America's Ugliest Confederate Statue Isn't Coming Down Soon

I could imagine many in Nashville don't like it. I've been to Nashville, and it stands out from many other places in Tennessee. Nashville has more of an Austin-esque feel to it.
There are people from Nashville more deserving of a statue than Nathan Bedford Forrest.
Amazingly, there are more monuments in Tennessee honoring Nathan Bedford Forrest than there are of all three presidents from Tennessee (Andrew Jackson, Andrew Johnson, and James Polk) combined.
