From the article in the OP...

We’re adding people in many areas where we’re seeing increased customer demand for products and services. At the same time, technology improvements are driving higher efficiencies and there are some areas where demand for our legacy services continues to decline, and we’re adjusting our workforce in some of those areas as we continue to align our workforce with the changing needs of the business. Many of the affected employees have a job offer guarantee that ensures they’ll be offered another job with the company, and we’ll work to find other jobs for as many of them as possible.

As a result of decreasing work volume and to increase efficiency, we are consolidating some call center work currently done at one of our locations in Kansas City (2121 E. 63rd St.) into another company location in San Antonio. Affected employees will be offered the opportunity to work in our center in San Antonio, and a relocation allowance. Work volume at the center has been decreasing due in part to improvements in technology and customers’ increasing preference to communicate with us online.

So while on the surface, it does make you wonder what is going on... it seems like this is job shifting based on demand.

Look - they are running a business, and they are adding and subtracting based on demand for services.

I don't like AT&T... but this is what it is. What are they supposed to do...not let them go because they gave out the bonuses? Not give out the bonuses because they are planning to lay people off? What do you want?

I guess you missed the part where the far-right basically took over the Republican party. It's old news now, I get it, and far less exciting than blaming Obama for the death of Christmas or some crap, but it's still worth reading up on before casting a vote for Trump while thinking you're voting for Reagan.

At any given time large corporations are both hiring and firing. I am sure there are thousands of openings on their HR site right this moment.

Actually, it's fake news. The Republican Party, as the Democratic Party, have largely joined forces to create the Establishment Party.

Trump is much closer to a tradition Democrat that Bill Clinton was.

Are you talking about the 'far right' that fought tooth and nail to keep Trump from getting the nomination?

Tell me again who won that battle?

Unfortunately you don't run a business solely on optics.

The far-right voters. Again, you must have missed the fact that Trump IS what Republican voters want. If you don't like that fact, quit the party and stop trying to pretend this is the fault of Democrats hiding under the bed or some nonsense.
