There is a lot of truth to this, sad to say. When you can't win against Trump, that says you need to do something differently. I hate what the Republicans are doing to this country, but Democrats have to drop the special cases thing that they are on and start paying attention to what is going on in the mainstream, or they will continue to keep on losing to the Republicans.

Why would we care?

The choice is always between Trump and someone worse.

Specifically.

Weird you reference alcohol since Bannon gave up drinking on his own 18 years ago.
Oft-repeated phrase that has no basis in reality. Trump is no different today than he was 20 years ago (except he's aged some). He's as ignorant and dishonest now as he was then, and just as good as getting away with (figurative) murder. Trump, ever the huckster.

First President to actually work to get done what he promised.
A few of Trump's unfulfilled promises:

His beautiful wall will be 35 to 40 feet, or 50 feet, or higher, and he will force Mexico will pay for it starting on day one of his presidency.

He will show us his tax returns. He will bring back coal jobs in West Virginia and manufacturing jobs in Michigan. He will fix the inner city of Baltimore, will balance the budget, protect Social Security, take care of veterans, create targeted child care tax credits, cut the number of tax brackets, declare China a currency manipulator, keep those Carrier jobs in the country.
