WOW, 4 youths who are either severely deficient in any sense of humanity, psychopathic, or totally lacking in a basic level of common-sense. Either way, this was an unlawful killing of a fellow human, try them as adults.
I tend to lean to the conservative side, but I'm not sure charging three 14 year olds and a 13 year old as adults is really appropriate here. This seems more like a case of stupid mischievous behavior leading to tragedy than cold blooded murderous intent. Hard as it is for adults to believe, these kids probably did not truly understood the magnitude of the danger of what they were doing. Throw the book at them as hard as you can within the juvenile system, but life in prison for 4 kids barely in their teens for a poorly thought out prank gone horribly wrong seems overboard.
Disagree. They killed someone. Unless they have IQs under 80, they need to pay.

Someone died because you were too stupid to think about what you were doing". Life in prison? No. However, I do think these teenagers need to understand the ramifications of what they've done.
I agree with both you guys.
I think the problem with some people is that they hear the word teenager, they are thinking of a 17 or 18 year old. But these are 14 year olds and one 13 year old. Basically still children. Yet, and here is the irony here, they are being charged as adults for a crime that is so stupid, juvenile and pointless that most actual adults would never actually commit it.
That is why we have a juvenile justice system even though sometimes it can be frustrating.
That isn't new, political, or controversial. What's the real reason?
Are matters of controversial laws not political?
