But the US should probably not do anything more than offer the encouragement that the State Department is currently offering.
Even that’s too much. Anything we do in Iran will be seen as coming from the CIA. Iranians don’t trust us, and they’re absolutely right not to.

And oh yeah: United States...stay the hell out of it, otherwise the protests are sure to fail.

‘Death to the Dictator! Death to Rouhani!’: Thousands Protest the Government in Iran
lets not forget we (the US) overthrew the iranian government and backed Iraq in a hellish war too...

so in this case i agree with you. We need to stay out of the way and let Iranians decide their own future.

2 things Trump did totally changed the game there and directly lead to ISIS being demolished.

Obama's team micromanaged from the White house everything the military wanted to do. They placed onerous rules of engagement on them. Delayed permission to carry out time sensitive missions until they were no longer viable. Of course they had to. They didn't really want to damage ISIS. They just wanted to push them into Syria where they were arming them to apply pressure to Assad.

Trump changed that goal by loosening the rules of engagement and turning over the day to day operational decisions to the military, which immediately jumped on it and started concentrating their efforts to hit concentrated pockets of ISIS fighters and leaders.

The second thing is Trump armed the Kurds which Obama refused to do for the same reasons already mentioned.

I guess a third big thing Trump did was stop arming and funding them.

ISIS was no where near crushed when Obama left.

Do you really believe the garbage you post here?
well if we did a poll you would quickly find very few americans believe you. I think you might need to get out into the light. Informationally speaking, because from a factual point of view the poster is completely correct. ISIS's high tide past well before Trump. the idea that Obama supported ISIS is bull, and your pushing that patently false story tells me you living in an information blind spot.

When ISIS came into Syria, Obama did to little to late. With the UN and EU doing nothing, Obama followed their lead and did nothing.

Good. Doing nothing is the exact right decision.

I think whether it seems like it's coming from the CIA or our government, they're not going to trust anything we say and it may just push them in the opposite direction. We need to shut up and mind our own business.

They need to do what they need to do without outside interference. We've done enough damage.

He stayed out of it for enough years, he should have stayed out of it completely and let the Europeans deal with it. I doubt Russia would have come in to it if the US hadn't.

Problem is that Trump needs his Twitter account taken way as his mere one liners are setting off the Iranian leaders.

Rouhani also reportedly blasted President Trump for his public comments supporting the protests — the largest movement against the Iranian government in years.

“This man in America who is sympathizing today with our people has forgotten that he called the Iranian nation terrorists a few months ago. This man who is against the Iranian nation to his core has no right to sympathize with Iranians,” he continued.

Trump has repeatedly tweeted about the protests, while slamming Iran for funding terrorist organizations.
