About thirty years ago, my spouse was offered a promotion that required relocation to Alabama. Having spent part of his youth there, he was less than thrilled and flatly turned it down. As a northerner who at that time was a little naive about southern culture, I was confused. Not so much any longer.
Such treatment historically was reserved for African-Americans who didn't "know their place", but could apply equally to anyone else that stepped out of line..
This is terrifying to me and perhaps explains why women were afraid to come forward. And how affective will the "investigation" be? She loses everything because she spoke up?
"That fire is still under investigation by the Etowah County Arson Task Force," said Natalie Barton, public information officer with the Etowah County Sheriff's Department. "A suspect of interest is being spoken to. But there have been no charges, to my knowledge, related to the fire at this time." Barton later released a statement, saying, "The ongoing investigation does not lead us to believe that the fire is in any way related to Roy Moore or allegations made against him. More details will be released when warrants are obtained."
It would behoove people to wait until the results of the investigation are completed.
It’s a very sad thing for this family to lose their home. A local drunk was walking around the house before and during the blaze. According to the sheriffs department, the ongoing investigation does not lead them to believe that the fire is in anyway related to Roy Moore or allegations made against him. There is a suspect of interest being spoken to and more details will be announced when warrants are obtained.
