The guy is an attention-seeking snowflake. He could have just gone in and done his job, but instead apparently he couldn't work without whining about his political beliefs that no one wanted to hear, so now he's a victim.

That's why there are laws to protect us from nice people as yourself.
He will win easily.
I disagree, the problem was how this dialog about a "complaint" about a hostile work environment created just that, a more hostile environment. I agree with Pedro on this. Goggle is what they are as a company, if you work there and don't like it, look elsewhere and make Glassdoor reviews like the rest of us if you are that mad OR sue if you have hard proof. What I've seen isn't. Don't be a fool and make a snowflake rant and get fired, and THEN claim it was discriminatory on basis of political view. The guy forced the issue and then got fired. He played with fire and got burned. He'll be lucky if Google settles this. However this looks bad for him and not just on how he acted.
It might just effect his future. Many in the employment forum say not to file lawsuits because they go public. If Goggle fired this guy and he sued them, why would Microsoft or Apple hire them especially if they are "libral"?
He wasn't lodging a complaint, he was starting a dialog on solutions to his perceived issues with GOOG's policies. I used to work under five presumptions while there.
1) Never go to your management with a problem. Go with a solution
2) It is better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.
3) Don't tell people things, show them
4) If there are X people on a team and they share the same opinion, then X-1 of them are redundant.
5) Better to speak your mind and be wrong, than be silent and be right.
Seems to me the culture has changed extraordinarily. Because it netted me phenomenal bonuses, pay increases and stock.
How often did you go to the management with a solution like "we shouldn't try to be diverse here because women are too emotional to be good at running a company?"
Because, that was the gist of his treatise and if you'd done that, I will suggest that you'd have been shown the door, just like he was.
It was disgustingly misogynistic.
And untrue.

I agree with you. There were plenty of good ways to lodge a valid complaint. He made a terrible choice and it gave many of his coworkers the very distinct impression that he was judging them based on factors beyond their control, such as their gender and ethnicity.
That was stupid.

Google massively spies on you. They were the only ones that didn't work in VPN or Tor mode. (Because they couldn't data mine you.) Even Bing worked anonymously.
well, it's about damn time. I've seen this going on for years all over the internet....not to mention, closing someone's opinion down by either calling them names, or by simply deleting the opinions of conservatives.
If I'd have been that couple who refused to bake a cake for someone whose race, religion or whatever, I didn't approve of, I'd have counter sued those people.
This country has become way too politically correct....the left seems to be able to say anything they want, no matter how cruel or horrible, but when the right comes back with anything, they are shut down....
enough is enough.
I see it on the news constantly....b/c they are owned by liberal money.
It's got to stop.
Totally agree. Glad someone else is saying it too!
Unless they won't bake a gay wedding cake, then they have to be punished for "human rights violations" and "emotional harm" and fined over $100K for it.
