Not unless the quality was higher. I don't see paying more for crap when it's crap and falls apart after a year.

Yes. If things cost a bit more, workers would also earn more, so it would all even out + we'd be strenghtening our country.

I do that now. I buy from the craftsmen when ever possible.
Things like furniture last a 100 years and much better than what I could get from China at a box store and have to replace every 3 years.

I make purchases based on quality. Folks in other countries need to earn a living, not unlike Americans.

If the quality is there then yes, if not then no. It also depends on how much more the item will cost.

In my experience, Made In America is synonymous with overpriced low quality junk. I am not going to pay more for low quality crap just because it is made in the US. I bought an American car once, worst purchase decision of my life and with a few notable exceptions like dress shoes I have avoided American made products ever since.

No. I buy the best quality product within budget regardless of where it is made. It's the capitalist way.

Bingo, the rise of Wal Mart and Chinese manufacturing tell you all you need to know about how this would work in real life. The bottom line is that other countries simply make better stuff at lower prices.
