None of this would be happening if Trump knew how to keep his mouth shut. I wonder if he is learning how to now?
President Trump is a malignant narcissist
It is as impossible for that psychological condition not to strike out in defense when any threat is perceived or simply to try to sway public opinion and garner the adulation necessary to survive...
Several days ago I opined in this thread that Stormy's first lawyer Keith Davidson had several problems. One is the fact that Cohen doubtless recorded their conversations without his knowledge in violation of CA state law. I am confident that SDNY has heard those conversations in the evidence they gathered. To use those recordings as evidence against Cohen Davidson would need to waive his right to privacy under CA law with respect to those recordings. That is, I think, how Davidson is cooperating with SDNY.
For those who criticize MSNBC and the Washington Post, I watch and read broadly. I also look for supporting and bebutting information. Any reporter can make a mistake. I clearly state when what I write is conjecture.
For many years I prepared cases for litigation, all but one were settled out of court in the favor of my employer and the one that went to court was a win. To have such a record an investigator must be through, thoughtful, strategic and know the laws enforced. It also helps to have smart lawyers at your side of the table. Back in the 60s my agency was the only law enforcement agency to send a member of the mafia to jail.
Well, if Davidson is waiving his personal right to privacy regarding any of those audio files or documents, I wonder if he is also being given a plea deal for any conspiracy charges that might also be tied to what he and Cohen did as agents for opposing parties...
Based on Daniels' and McDougal's statements it appears he could have acted w/Cohen to attain a relatively low payout or onerous burden for his clients---vs their best deals...
And that conspiracy COULD be revealed when his conversations are analyzed---couldn't it?
And has HE been involved in any of the pleadings in Judge Otero's court--since he was Daniels's attorney of record for the NDA? Would he be called as a witness since he was supposedly Daniels' attorney and she could waive that priviledge if his testimony was helpful to her case?
Fact of the matter is Trump is overwhelmingly popular with his base. He is one of the most popular Presidents we've ever had, adored and loved by his base. He isn't going anywhere.
Yes, Trump is adored with a religious fervor by his base.
But, just like religion, that base is shrinking rapidly. Not one national poll gives him a favorable rating. Not one, even the rightwing ones
Yes he could have cut a deal with SDNY. He doesn't need to say anything but attest to the fact that it is his voice on a recording.
That, however, won't save him from a suit from his clients or from losing his licence to practice law - the two of the other Keith Davidson risks on my list. Can you imagine the liability from just Stoney's case... what would be Michael Avenatti's professional fees and expenses that a client would pay? I hope Davidson's firm has adequate insurance. Another consideration is that Davidson and partners malpractice insurance may not cover malpractice involving unlawful activity.
"Provides attorneys with liability coverage for financial loss suffered by third parties arising from acts, errors, and omissions in providing professional legal services. Fraud, intentional and criminal acts, bodily injury (BI), and property damage (PD) are excluded from coverage."
The other risk I mentioned, I think, is that Davidson's clients will take their contracts to another lawyer for review, his practice is toast. Reputation is everything in the practice of law.
If Keith Davidson can stay out of prison his other risks that we know of are just financial.

Most popular? Hovering at 40% approval?
Approval ratings are a fleeting thing -- Nixon was popular but as the Watergate scandal unfolded his approval numbers slowly sank. When he resigned he had about a 25% approval rate. If Mueller uncovers good evidence of criminal wrongdoing, he will lose part of his base and fall under 30%.

If professional insurance works like that for HOA boards--someone who knowling acts out of special intetest and acts in furtherance of that as a Board member loses his/her coverage
There is a fiduciary responsibility attached
If you void the fiduciary responsibility you arent protected
