Haven't we all gone into stores wearing coats and other clothing we previously purchased? Nobody has ever questioned me.

I'm with him, not the store.
Of course you are.

The answer is simple. There are social norms and mores in every society. When you violate those norms by behaving differently, you will be noticed and singled out.

What liberals don't understand when they say "you can do whatever you want" is that there are also consequences to one's actions. One doesn't get to do as he or she wishes by violating those norms and then claim to be a victim.

The article states the clerks 'scanned' the item. Walking around with tags on your clothes is not normal.

Please reread the thread. They didn't scan anything, they either lied in the article or forgot the events either way the dude didn't walk in their with the tag on.

There was no price tag on the jacket. This has been addressed multiple times already in this thread. There is video confirming this. They had him remove the jacket and then hand keyed the item number from the sewn in clothing tag.

Except when you see the video, the tag is INSIDE the jacket. How would the store see that tag without that man taking off the jacket? And a sewn on tag at that.

The way I see it, unless an apology is give and some kind of compensation given, I would not shop at that particular store ever again. If a store is going to treat me like a thief, then that store deserves no money from me. In this particular instance, that is my advice to that young man. Vote with your feet and your money and go somewhere else. Maybe the store losing money will send a message.

The "racism" card is so much that we have watered down the meaning.
