Ever hear of the doctrine of "separation of powers"?
I know the left hates this country and its founding values, but sorry, you're stuck with it. That's the system we have. The POTUS can go his own way. He's not in the job to rubber stamp what Congress does.
If he doesn't like what Congress has recommended he doesn't have to implement it. And if they feel that strongly about a bill they have passed that he vetoes, then they can use their delegated authority to override his veto.
That is the "rule of law" that you idiots claim Republicans hate. No...we don't. We like the rule of law. We respect the Constitutional framework. Its the left that wishes it didn't exist and constantly tries to end-run it.

How do you feel about US Citizens who are captured on the battle field and charged as Enemy Combatants? Should it be allowed, or are their rights intact because they are in fact citizens.

There is no 'accountability being imposed', it's a joke! You have been hoaxed.
The FBI is cut from conservative whole cloth, it's members from top to bottom are the most patriotic and socially conservative people I have ever met, even after they retire. They are well educated, clean cut and professional and don't take bull for an answer.
They have a healthy skepticism of the general public that any law enforcement develop over time, working as they do in an environment of criminality they see the world's darker side better than you and I might. They rely on trust and promises less and genuine proof more than most people.
What we have now is a petty and selfish political attempt to smear this institution to protect a corrupt president who would have at most eight years and possibly a lot less, but the unwarranted damage to the credibility of the FBI could last a generation or more and impede their important work on our behalf.
If Putin wanted to destroy our institutions, he has certainly begun by using the Republican party as a surrogate.

At the beginning, it seemed like the Republicans were going to to do the right thing, and actually represent our interests - in other words, oppose Trump's efforts to damage and subvert our democratic systems. Now it is clear that more of them every day are willing to kneel to Trump like a King. Not all of them. But enough of them to show clearly the rotten core of the character of these men and women.
