I think it was Obamacare mostly.
I do think Trump will be a factor this year, just how much of one is up for debate. It depends how low the bar goes and continues to go.

Six seats is the biggest ever? I find that hard to believe, but I can look around.

Ok, that was easy. Eisenhower lost 13 Senate seats to Dems.

Is it fun to just make stuff up?

Most people are taking home like 20 bucks a week. Ill take it but I believe you are overstating the joy. We shall see.

Trump might stop the stupid quotes. He might not.
The economy might sink or rise. We shall see.

It started with the energy bill that passed the House in the Spring of 2009, Obamacare was chump change compared to it.

The 63 house seats gained in 2010 were huge by any measure , you need to go back to the late 30's and early 40's for anything comparable.

Of course today they are ramping up the debt like never before, but there is no need for "outrage" because they are in charge. I guess GOP is better at complaining. blaming and being "outraged" than actually governing. They are also better at complaining than Dems, because I don't see them rioting/protesting on the streets like Tea Party was.
Ron Paul opened many eyes that it was one party in Washington. There really was no Republican or Democrat only an establishment government v. the constitution.

2010, was the push to get the global establishment out of one party and Global Socialism was not as embedded in the Republican side of the fence and had a much bigger door to get into. Sure there have been some sneaky wolves in sheep's clothing slide through, and they were quickly taken out the next opportunity.

The trend has been more Constitutionally Conservative, as eyes are opened to the twisted Constitution we have today, when the text is actually written in the Bill of Rights and the purpose of allowing centralized governing, of sovereign states.

A century of flipping the power structure from a constitutional bottom up, to a totalitarian top down, was almost complete.

Six Democrat held US congressional offices were flipped Republican, in the 2010 Mid-terms?
How can I ague with that?

Short answer?

Tea Party dinosaurs enraged by the election of a black man in 2008 voted in massive numbers in 2010 in an off year with comparatively low turnout compared to 2008.

To this day, the Progressive Establishment has tried to place a derogatory label on the PO'ed silent majority. Ron Paul's declaration of Taxed Enough Already, turned into Teabaggers(a gay sexual act).
This last time, it was Deplorable's.

Funny how the term "Racist" has played out and now it is the boy that cried wolf, with no teeth. None! It has no impact on a conversation what so ever anymore.
