People are funny. The same people that are angry about Trump's nationalist policies are the same ones that only want the government to have guns?

The same people that decry police racism and brutality are the same ones who think that only the police should have ARs?

lol wut

The 2nd amendment isn't for deer hunting. It's to protect yourself against a tyrannical government. You better have your rifles and pistols when Trump sends his government goons to arrest you and throw you out of the country...especially if you aren't white.

Waiting periods wouldn't have changed anything....the kid waited almost a year after buying the gun.
Background checks didn't do anything because he hadn't yet been convicted of anything.
Banning one type of gun wouldn't do anything,,,he's just use a different type...banning all guns won't stop anything...look at Mexico...some despot like Eric Holder in some other country would have armed him...

Who is going to pay for all of this oversight and who is going to administer it? Let's be real here...everything worked in this case as it's supposed to except the FBI...they dropped the ball!

Stop with the common sense, some people just can't take it.

Not really. We need the capacity to put the insane, like Cruz, in loony bins, as we once had, with or w/o their consent.

Social media threats should be cause for a immediate sanity hearing, guilty until proven innocent being the premise.

Absolutely positively, no way, EVER. Especially considering some of the technology available these days.

There is software that can manipulate video to appear as if someone else is speaking whatever words you want them to speak, and photo editing is beyond the point of being able to tell whats real or not without expert analysis.

For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...&v=ohmajJTcpNk

I agree that we need to step up our game on mental illness, but NEVER should anyone stand for guilty until proven innocent, that is a 3rd world tyranny model.

If you did that, 80% of Hollywood would be in the nuthouse. (As they probably should.)

Agreed and not sure why people are overlooking this fact.

But, local LEO has a lot to answer for as well imo.

Despite all the crimes this kid is reported to have engaged in, not a single arrest or even a Baker act confinement.

It will be very interesting to see why they were called to this kids home 39 times in the last 8 years or so if that is indeed correct.

We have the capacity. The state of FL refused to exercise it.

I blame the FBI for not allowing local law enforcement to do anything. The FBI never shared with local LEO what they knew about him as it relates to calling himself a school shooter and wanting to do that. All local LEO knew was that the kid punched some wall, cut himself, and was a general misbehaving weirdo. Big difference between "not doing anything" with that info vs. what the FBI knew and didn't share with them.

Except it was a culture change that got us here to begin with. Easy is NOT always the best way, the lazy way to be sure but not the best.

What'd be even easier is to halt all sales of violent video games and ban them requiring a mass turn in of all in existence.
Then tighten down the internet to stop all violent content showing any shootings, murders or anything that advocates the killing of people be they LEO's or citizens. No more of those shoot 'em up,explosion filled, blood laced movies or rap songs.

Ban ALL violent movies as well as any music that calls for violence or disrespects women,LEO's, the military or any position of authority.

Filter all social media and trap/flag ANY posts that talk about violence or use "hate speech" for further investigation and possible prosecution/forced confinement.
All of those would be easier to do and some of them at this point wouldn't require that much more of a move (social media).

There's a proposal that's easier to complete than what you propose...
