No one has a justifiable need for this weapon. Hunting and Home Protect does not fit as a claim to support this weapon. Argue all you want..... It is no justifiable need for this weapon to be publicly accessible.
In America we have Police Departments and we have National Guards and many other law enforcement agencies for any mass civil unrest.
NO Citizen has any need for a rapid fair assault weapon. Semi auto in homes is enough rapid fire for any person. Any Hunter does not need a rapid fire weapon. It is unfair to the animals that the Hunter is Hunting.
I don't personally care for sports hunting, but hunting for game that people will actually eat, I can understand, but I detest the idea of killing an animal for the sake of mounting its head on a wall.
Enough should have been learned from the massive early American slaughter of the million and 10's of millions if buffalo then leaving them to rot in the open plains.
Viewing my post history on this topic of gun control would show I'm anything but a proponent of the proliferation of firearms; BUT, you are doing your cause a disservice when you use such invective to describe a firearm, ANY firearm in such a manner.
The larger picture here is what issue is at hand causing this particular example of outrage. The mere "optics" of this candidate using an AR as an enticement to support his candidacy.
Yes the "optics" are terrible, but attaching the term "slaughter machine" to your statement of disdain will only serve to prove that "optics" are more important than actual substance. I don't believe you desire that to be the outcome.
What does the man stand for in his riding? What is his record of achievement? Those would seem to be just two questions of actual merit, beyond his choice of raffle prize, that should be discussed prior to "optics" being given consideration.
Let the voters in his constituency decide.....trust in their judgement of having closer connection to him. That's democracy in action.
Tickets were already sold before the shooting. You can't blame the raffle for the shooting. Canceling a raffle is never a good idea.
The raffle was a bad idea to begin with, given that the prize is the weapon of choice for the majority of mass shooters. Glorifying the weapon used to mow down scores of innocent people is a bad idea no matter when it was proposed.
This is a slap in the face to all the survivors of these massacres. But hey, we gave them the usual lip service of prayers and thoughts, so that should be good enough.
