Because politicians can only stay in office if they APPEAR to be solving a problem. More laws, regardless of how effective they are, appear to solve the problem. Politicians are only accountable for the laws they pass, not the results of those laws.

This is true across all levels of government and across all government initiatives. The war on drugs is a great example. More drug laws and spending on controls, but no positive results (or even worse results). It's the same with more gun laws and more CO2 laws, etc.

I think a child going to school should have more rights than a gun hobbyist who collects shiny toys that make loud noises.

Please don't present facts to the liberals. That was their favorite lie. If you refute it, they have nothing else.

Let's Be Honest, The Latest Gun Control Bill Is Pretty Much A Total Ban On Firearms

Matt Vespa

Okay—so the new ban on so-called assault weapons has been put forward and to no one’s surprise is pretty much a total gun ban. A massive slate of weapons are slated to be banned since the legislation calls for the prohibition of semi-automatic rifles and handguns that have detachable magazines, and can carry more than 10 rounds (via Washington Examiner) [emphasis mine:
House Democrats have introduced a bill banning semi-automatic firearms in the wake of the Feb. 14 shooting at a high school in Parkland, Fla.
Rep. David Cicilline, D-R.I., announced Monday he is introducing the Assault Weapons Ban of 2018. More than 150 Democrats have signed on in support of the legislation, Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Fla., said.

The bill prohibits the “sale, transfer, production, and importation” of semi-automatic rifles and pistols that can hold a detachable magazine, as well as semi-automatic rifles with a magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds. Additionally, the legislation bans the sale, transfer, production, and importation of semi-automatic shotguns with features such as a pistol grip or detachable stock, and ammunition feeding devices that can hold more than 10 rounds.

Cicilline’s legislation names 205 specific firearms that are prohibited, including the AK-47 and AR-15.

Why does Greenpeace? Why do Unions? Why do any of hundreds of wing-leaning leftist groups give these politicians millions? Something is wrong with that TOO!

Perhaps that might be a big part of the solution. Let's ban Lobbyists!!!

And while none of us wants children to die (although to hear the left tell it we do) why is the right for a child to have safety anymore than the right of the little old 75 year old lady living alone in her apartment who has a semi-auto in her bed side table? The word more implies that all of us are not created equal. Personally, I'd prefer they both were as safe as humanly possible. And I don't believe that banning guns is the answer for neither of them. Both just become setting targets for the next wacko who manages to get his hands on one of your "banned" guns......

We are all just dying to hear why you think it wiser that children have more rights than educated, life experienced adults.

I have seen real gun proposals that will actually work but liberals ignore them. All they want to do is ban arbitrary things. They know it won’t work. If it did, they won’t have an opportunity to issue a rally cry after the next mass-shooting.
