Solutions are needed. Now. Technology advances...we humans are a smart bunch. You are correct that it's more than a simple tool problem. It's a complex problem - with multiple solutions. Again, if you can clearly explain why gun deaths in MA. are the lowest in the country, I'm all ears. IMHO, it's because people care about others and have common sense laws and regs.

Oh, we have our share of gun nuts. The local police chief - he was made famous by allowing a kid to shoot a MG and the kid (9 years old) use a UZI....who then accidentally killed the instructor.

But even with that stuff - lowest in the Nation. If the National stats were anywhere near the MA. stats we wouldn't be having these conversations.

BTW, I'm not fooling myself. Some nut is very likely to travel into MA. and shoot a bunch of innocents just to prove the point...however, stats are stats and they matter very much if one loves their children and their neighbors.
Yes, "Technology advances."
Before guns can be eliminated something more deadly will replace them.
C'mon people, it's almost 2020, why don't we have ray guns yet?

When we eliminate "weapons of war" from private hands, the country will be safer. If you want to use pro equipment, become a pro. There is a recruiter in your area.
"Let's call them "Weapons of War" then,"

OK, how many AR-15's have been used in "wars"?

"like the Fourth Circuit did"

" you mean the court that has 9 of the 14 judges appointed by gun grabbing Clinton and Obama?

That UN-biased court?

I DON'T think so!

" A total ban will likely never happen."

BUT states like CA and NY in essence are.

It is time we took these state laws to the Supreme Court and, IMO, have these laws overturned due the "the RIGHT of the people to keep and bear arms shall NOT be infringed?

Saying you CAN'T have a semi-automatic rifle or pistol is "INFRINGING" on our right to KEEP and BEAR arms.

"When you start with an insult, you have ALREADY LOST the discussion" as they say.

The problem is the proliferation of guns suitable for mass shooting use. And we could, if we chose, limit that.
"The problem is the proliferation of guns suitable for mass shooting use. And we could, if we chose, limit that"

WRONG.

The problem is mentally ill people GETTING guns.

The local police in Fl visited is house 39 times, I think.

The FBI had info on him.

He HAD a reputation of mental instability.

How was he able to buy a gun in the first place.

How many people in the U.S own LEGAL guns?

How many out of ALL the owners of LEGAL guns commit gun crimes?

The % of LEGAL gun owners committing gun crimes is so low it doesn't even register.

All a LOT of you do is through out crap because of your OWN anti gun bias WITHOUT knowing much about guns and REAL stats.

How many shooters would have been stopped sooner if school employees were armed? It happened before you people put "gun free zones" in place and remove any opposition to an active shooter. There is no reason to think it couldn't have happened again. How many lives have your "gun free zones" cost? How much blood is on your hands because of them?
"if school employees were armed?" OR students.

The Va Law School shooter was stopped by 2 students.

One retired police offer and the other an off duty police officer.

How many lives COULD they have SAVED if they were carrying INSTEAD of having to leave the building, go out to the parking lot, retrieve their guns and rerun to the building?

In many areas police officer's are REQUIRED to carry even when OFF DUTY.

Why do you think that is?

doesn't say what kind of meds....

so again:
how was the florida shooter able to buy one??

how was he as a 17/18 year old able to buy one in 2016....with NO JOB and income

how was he in 2016 while ON MEDS, under MENTAL care able to buy one... any one

the issue is not a gun, any type of gun.... the issue is how does a mentally ill kid, with anger issues, with no job, pass the background check BY THE SHERRIFF'S office to get a permit to purchase... no only one, but apparently he had 10 weapons.... the issue is mental illness and the ability of mentally ill people to buy weapons...that needs to be fixed

and what is even worse!!!!
FBI got tip on alleged Florida shooter Nikolas Cruz in January, but didn’t ‘follow protocols’

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...didn-t-n848681

The tip should have been "assessed as a potential threat to life" and forwarded to the bureau's Miami field office for investigation. "We have determined that these protocols were not followed," the agency said.
FBI Director Christopher Wray said in that statement that the bureau is trying to figure out how the mistake occurred, particularly because the bureau asks the public to "be vigilant" against threats and share them with authorities.
"her son suffered from ADHD,"

I don't know the exact stats but, I think a lot of these young men were given Ritalin when in school because the mamby pamby teachers, mostly women, couldn't handle boys who have a higher degree of activity so they are "drugged" to "calm them down.

Then when out of school or before they QUIT using it and the withdrawal, like using dope, is too much for them to handle.

Why do you think it is the NRA's RESPONSIBILITY to do these things you aretlaking about.

Do some of you EVER take responsibility for ANYTHING? It is ALWAYS somebody else's fault.

The NRA is NOTHING more then gun owner's getting together to protect our 2nd amendment rights.

If you don't LIKE the 2nd amendment WORK TO GET IT CHANGED.

GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!

Be VERY CAREFUL for what RIGHTS you want to cancel.
