Most societies have practiced public execution at some point in their history. Whether it was for judicial or religious purposes.
You are correct - the Scots-Irish imported as virtual slaves had what I think is the highest murder rates in our history - in KY and TN it was 250 per 100K people, 50X what it is today.

Well what IF Hillary Clinton is found guilty of rigging the election? Can we execute her, too?

Impossible. They had public executions, the bestest deterrent there is!

Here's some news for many of you psychos to jack to:

Judge ordered defendant to get electric shocks during trial; conviction thrown out | News | stltoday.com

Though sorry if the part about the conviction being thrown out is a boner killer.

They should bring back public executions.

Especially for treason.

I would like to see a public hanging, right smack dab in the middle of the ellipse.

What is your source for these stats? Was it something to do with Prohibition and bootlegging? If so, not real interested.....everyone already knows that things like Prohibition or the War On Some Drugs artificially inflates crime stats (we saw it in the 80s and we're seeing it right now).

If it was related to that, then I'd also question the veracity of the stats....homicides committed by "the authorities" are excluded from this category (which is called intentional murder...which does not include police shootings)
