Are these the people whom the gun-rights-haters still insist "aren't going to take your guns away"?

California gun confiscation law takes effect Jan. 1

REDDING, Calif. - A new California law takes effect January 1 that allows legally-owned guns to be confiscated if family or friends believe the owner is a threat to themselves or others.

It's called AB-1014 and it comes after the mass shooting in May 2014 that claimed six lives in Isla Vista, California.

The new law will allow family members who believe someone may be violent to apply for a "Gun Violence Restraining Order."

The law isn't sitting well with gun owners. "I don't think it's a good law," said Ray Abernathy, a longtime Redding Gun Club member. Abernathy said the law has good intentions, but he's worried about people taking advantage of it. He believes people who are irritated will use the law against other family members.

With AB-1014, a family member only has to have a gut feeling to petition for a temporary restraining order. For the process to start, a judge has to sign off on the order.

Note to self: Be nice to all family members when living in California.

Trump is the one advocating taking guns away without due process. These temporary orders have due process, and penalize people making false petitions.

Which makes it OK.

After all, the 2nd amendment says "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed except by due process of law."

Right?

So if I saw you drive too fast, lets say 80mph in a 55mph zone, one could say you were "unsafe to yourself or others" right? So I can recommend you to have your rights taken away? But its OK because I'm sure the state would go after me for a "false report" and win in a case where this was the premise. Whos right and whos wrong at that point?

Oh goody another restraining order. As effective as deportation.

A liberal activist judge has to sign off.... like when eric holder falsified a warrant and judge shopped to spy on journalists. nothing to see here, the goorment will take care of us and keep us safe!
